There is one signifficant difference between Canon and Nikon lenses used on
digital bodys and Zuikos.
The former are autofocus-lenses the Zuikos are not.
Afaik all consumer and semipro digital cameras feature autofocus.
If Olympus had a state of the art autofocus SLR-system, they would build
digital bodys
with compatble lensmount.
I believe there is just no big market for MF-digital-cameras.
The Leica S-1 ,like the digital backs for mediumformat bodys, is designd for
studio work, where autofocus is of pretty limited use.
Other digital bodys featureing lens mounts for MF-lenses are special designs
for repro work.
It would be an anachronism to build a general purpose digital camera with
Mf-lenses.
Olympus concentrates on point and shot cameras, because there is big money
to be made with
small risk.
Digital photography gave them the oportunity to use their all in one SLR
technologie, which was
more or less a economical flop in analog photography, and to make the
investments in this technologie
pay.
That is more or less why I have to support Skip in asuming marketing reasons
as major
hinderance for a OM-mount digitalbody.
All those technical explanations just mean: It's too expansive and does not
pay.
