Well, I have two 50/f1.4's. Both are marked MC. Serial #'s are 797xxx
and 1047xxx (the latter is brand new, in box). After inspecting both
lenses, I can report clearly visible differences in coating reflections.
The older lens has much more pronounced reds, and much resemblance to
the famous Carl Zeiss 50/1.4 T*, though the Zuiko's reflected colors
are less warm.

The good news is that both Zuikos reflect vivid greens! The green color
appears to have been applied only to the rear element(s), and so takes
a little effort to detect (may be easier to see from the bottom, or from
the front -- but with the bottom lens cap on).

Guided tours of these unique 50/1.4 Zuikos can be arranged upon request.
But pls hurry before Disney discovers their existence, and snatches them
away -- no doubt, to be displayed as its newest attraction right next to
The Big Rat. :-)

Summary: Giles is right!

P.S. A propos Tokina, apparently RMC = Rainbow Multi-Coating. Indeed,
many earlier Tokinas had mostly blue rather than green reflections.

Cheers,
