For anyone who might have had scanner/Zip/printer trouble:  I just
installed a SIIG Parallel Pro board ($39) into a spare ISA slot, and
EVERYTHING (Scanner/Zip/Epson Stylus Color 800) worked properly the
first time I booted.  
I'm not used to that!
