2-4 screens (was [OM] Focus Snap In / Breathless)

Lest I be labeled as "that anti-2 series guy," let me add that I never doubted
that many may find the 2-series screens easier to focus, it is just that I
personally found the 1-4 easier to use. While the majority might prefer the 2-4
to the 1-4, at least a few of us find the 2-4 makes judging focus a little
harder. I just related my experiences, since I rarely see anything but rave
reviews about the 2-4 and 2-13 here. In fact, those probably helped convince me
to buy the 2-4. I thought that others who are interested in buying these
screens might be interested in hearing about possible trade-offs, too.

As I mentioned, my personal experience, with my eyes and my camera (OM1n), was
the opposite. I get even better "snap" with the all-microprism center screen
(1-1 or 1-2), but I find the central focus aids annoying, especially with
slower lenses.

This is interesting, since I've never tried diopters. Maybe my glasses have a
similar effect?

Is this some sort of joke? What sort of effect could film have on your
viewfinder? Or are we talking about two different things?

BTW, for those who expressed interest, my 2-4 screen has found a new home with
another list member. No doubt he will tell me that I was 100% wrong about it
being hard to judge critical focus with it. ;-)

I lost the e-mail of one person who just asked me about it today, so I'm sorry
that there wasn't a direct reply.
