I can't cite a specific source to this info, but what I understand is that it
began as an attempt to limit grey market importing into the US - perhaps a
Olympus America idea. The idea to not repair OM-4Ti 's in the US never saw
fruition, as Olympus America continued to accept warranties on OM-4Ti bodies
(while OM-4T 's were being sold).
