[OM] OM-10 problem

Hi all,

A couple of weeks ago I embarked on the task of repairing my
girlfriend's OM-10 which had got wet with sea water. John (Camtech) was
very helpful in leading me into my first camera repair task.

I seem to have narrowed down the problem to the white plastic tab that
is pushed and pulled by the long lever running along the top of the
camera base (as you hold the lens away from you). It seems to be
providing too much resistance to the levers restoring movement. I
thought I saw a white speck of salt or whatever coming out when I worked
the part a little bit.

Now, the QUESTION! Can John or anyone with similar experience, tell me
what I can do to lubricate or remove the salt or whatever permanently
from this area. Is it safe to deposit a droplet of oil or something?
Can I use Solvit or something similar, or do I risk oiling the magnet
(not that I know where it is!!) or something similar?

thanks for your help! I really would like to get the camera back to a
functional state.

regards

Konrad Pizzuto
