Hmm, let me shed some light on the subject.

McBroom's Camera Bluebook from 1995-96 lists the 600mm F8 lens
in mint condition at US$450-550, and the 800mm F11 version at
US$500-600.

I've seen the 600mm offered at the swap meets for less, but never
below $400. Last time I stopped at Keeble & Schuchat(sp?) in Palo
Alto, they had the 800mm lens with N/AI T-mount priced at $799.95
(used!). IMHO, that's really steep, but then -- the 800mm is harder
to find, and McBroom's book is getting quite outdated.

These lenses have T-mounts, so they can fit on almost any camera.
If the lens on eBay is in good shape and has all its accessories
(4 filters, tripod mount, lens hood, T-mount, case, caps), I won't
be surprised if it fetches $500 or more.

P.S. The above is a service for potential OLY bidders. I'm just in
from a short trip, and will respond to the other OLY msgs asap.

P.P.S. I'm not gonna bid on the 600mm -- I already have one :-).

Cheers,

/Gary Schloss.
