And this is where I have a HUGE point of disagreement with those
tests. All those tests show is how well a sensor captures the color
pigments used in the test charts under specific lighting. The real
world contains colors that may look like they may match one of the
PANTONE colors to the naked eye, but the spectral makeup is entirely
different. Again, I point to the African Violet. There is a specific
PANTONE color for it, but that is a pigment simulation, not the real
thing.

My world-famous "Zone-10 Color Checker" is made up of many materials
and natural things. I also included an IT8 test target

When I tested multiple cameras and films, nearly every one could
capture the IT8 target relatively well, but other things would skew. I
included fabric, thread, Crayons, wood, currency, stamps, makeup, and
hair samples. There was a very significant difference between how the
cameras and films captured the other items.

My point is that a printed picture of an African Violet is NOT
spectrally the same as an African Violet under daylight conditions.
What this color-reproduction-ranked test proves is how successful a
camera is at properly capturing a picture of a picture of an African
Violet.

The perceived colors in the real world are vastly different than a
pigment simulation on a PANTONE color chart. And when it comes to
"real world" perceived colors, I personally think the classic Olympus
E-1, as well as the Fujichromes are in a league of their own.
