Wow, go traveling for a few days and come back to this great discussion. Me on
the sideline learning...

The original question was support for M10 in Capture One 12. If you have a raw
file you would like to me test with Capture One 12 - now 20, let me know.

I wonder if one's workflow of 'a lot of photos' versus 'a few that want extra
treatment' favors LR vs PS. I tend to be very selective with the photos I edit,
so my workflow favors Moose's approach using PS.

The downside to my way is that I take too many photos. :-)  So I'm always
hopelessly behind.

I have a shortcut key to Sharpen AI, which has been a real advantage for those
slightly blurred images, or just pulling in the last touches.

Are you using all the options in Sharpen AI? You may have missed this photo I posted a few days ago. <http://www.moosemystic.net/Gallery/tech/TopazAI_Gigapixel/AsianFalcon.htm>

For that one, I tried all three modes, Sharpen, Stabilize and Focus. I ended up using Stabilize, then Focus, one after the other.

With all the emphasis in lens reviews on sharpness, I would like to see post
sharpen AI lens comparisons.

My interest in something like this goes back years. I discovered that FocusMagic deconvolution sharpening often has a magical effect on slightly soft images from the long ends of long zooms. Published lens tests weren't particularly relevant to my situation. I have done some tests myself, using Oly's HR mode for high sensor resolution, but most of my experience has been just that, processing many, many photos.

Now, with Topaz Sharpen AI, it's even more the case. You may also have missed while traveling my application of Sharpen AI to Mike's Pup, making a not so sharp lens result look nice and cleanly sharp. <http://www.moosemystic.net/Gallery/Others/Mike/PuponRock.htm>

I have on my list to explore, when I have time...
Captuer One 12 - Now Capture One 20
Affinity Photo
DxO PhotoLab 3
ON1 Photo RAW 2020
Luminar 4

Random comments on my experiences in some of these:

If you shoot wide:
Cap1, Affinity and ON1 all used, when I tried them, lens profiles from LensFun, which weren't very good. Not awful, but not up to the OlySonic µ4/3 profiles used by Adobe, And both PTLens and DxO profiles are better yet.

If a wide angle shot from contemporary lenses that rely on firm/software distortion correction is corrected in all software I know of - except - DxO (or with extra messing about in PTL), the image gets wider when corrected, and is then cropped, thus throwing away some of the AoV of the lens.

DxO will do that, if you want, or will output a larger file, with more pixels of width. The difference can be fairly dramatic. <http://www.moosemystic.net/Gallery/tech/DXO/Dist_Corr.htm>
-------------
As a mostly µ4/3 shooter, I'm used to the PannyPus lens profiles that are baked into ACR/PS/LR for everything but SWA. I see Adobe provides their own profiles for Sony mount AF lenses, but have no idea how good they may be.

Tools/approach to editing differ a lot. Affinity, ON1 (and Affinity?) take the basic approach of endless presets; pick your preset and you may be done, with no sliders to adjust.

I just saw a blurb for some app that skips even that, applying "AI" to get it
right in no time. Not my way.

NR:
I haven't tried Cap1 for some time, so it may have changed. The others listed
besides DxO were poor.

My NR tools are Topaz Denoise AI, NeatImage 4 & 8 and DxO. Having done several deep comparisons, I can't say any one is always the winner. DxO's combination of their Prime Raw NR and smart sharpening is perhaps the most overall reliable, especially at eliminating false color bits.

Denoise is generally pure magic at lower ISOs and areas without much detail. On really noisy files, it can seem to mistake noise for detail info. It also got confused in low detail areas next to high detail areas. As with the other Topaz AI apps, that may have or may soon get better, as they are being regularly updated.

Moderate noise, many subjects, and old NeatImage 4 can be great.
------------------
A lot of apps that are important to me are either plug-in only or both that and stand-alone.That weighs heavily toward PS, where I can set up Actions for them.
