Working in IT I can deeply relate to all that was said before. From my own 
foray into researching for a proper type M replacement, may I add two options 
you might find worthwile considering if the need for another replacement ever 
arises:

A modern day Model M remake with all the bells and whistles one might ever find 
useful

with a real buckling spring mechanism
