watched the first season mostly because of the accents, ... because of the
countryside,...I don't think I'll go any farther with it. ....Joan, I think,
made it halfway through the second.
The instant he is gone, she does exactly what he said not to do, and/or the
exact opposite of what he told her to do.
DIRE CONSEQUENCES!!.....Repeat, apparently endlessly.
That sort of book isn't my cuppa but my wife managed to get through book 2 1/2 or so and said the story went downhill rapidly. We watched the first season for the scenery and the costuming. In fact my wife has been making doll outfits based upon those in the series and selling them. Diana Gabaldon saw them and commented favorably. Money goes toward our next trip :)

We won't be watching anymore. As has been noted, it's rubbish. Too bad as it had potential. We were especially put off by the gratuitous sadistic violence.

While we were staying in Culross a crew from the show came in and started painting all of the buildings baby-shit brown and grey. ?? Most of the locals as true Scots were happy to get two coats of paint for free however one shop owner seemed to hold my wife who was obviously from the US to be personally responsible for the disruption. She wasn't Scottish.

Tangerinally, we watched .......We had the lovely and talented Frances
McDormand as Lady MacBeth, in which role she was very good......
She is always good. :) And tangentially, we watched the first half of the movie "Macbeth". Worth it for the cinematography. It was shot on Skye. Quirang, Fairy Pools and Sligachan were recognizable. However it was a poor remake and we bailed at the halfway point after the eye candy. The dialogue was slurred and unintelligible among many other faults.

The left horizon looks higher than the right, but that might be an illusion for
me.......
I see that too Chris. I think it is a wavy horizon rather than tipped. It was shot with the 12-50 which has quite a bit of distortion. Difficult for hugin to figure out. I'll go back and try to tug it into submission. If I were really picky I'd run it through DxO before the stitch.
