Used mine a few days ago while we were off the grid for 3 days in Valley of the
Gods. Worked well but __very_ slowly.

I have third party chargers that work directly off 12 v. Charging off the car
is easy, and as fast as 110v AC.

This is the one I have for BLN-1 batteries. You can see the 12v cable and the socket for it on top of the charger. <http://www.amazon.com/Progo-Battery-Charger-Olympus-1600mAh/dp/B00AWVG0J2/ref=sr_1_1?s=photo&ie=UTF8&qid=1433047272&sr=1-1>

It may not be quite ideal for Oly batteries, and vice versa, but that's quibbling when you need your battery charged out in the wilds. It works.
