Ah, then what I read last year must have been an overview of what HAD
been done rather than what WAS GOING to be done. What was interesting was that
the tunnel was built in short sections on land, then transported by a barge and
dropped in to place (as I recall).

A similar approach was used above it to build part of the new Eastern span of the SF Bay Bridge.
