A custom CoC value may be appropriate for eagle-eyed Mooses but using a 
more stringent CoC is typically not done for large prints (larger than 
8-10" vertical).  The CoC makes assumptions about visual acuity but also 
makes assumptions about viewing distance.  A letter size image or 
smaller is assumed to be viewed at reading distance and thus merits a 
CoC consistent with visual acuity at that viewing range.  But the 
viewing distance assumption is also that larger prints are intended to 
be viewed from larger distances such that CoC's acceptable for letter 
size images also tend to work for larger prints.
Consider the golf ball size pixels of truly large billboards.  They're 
not designed for scrutiny at book reading distance.
