Nathan, You constantly complain about gas prices in the United States.

If gas prices rose here, it would plunge the majority of our people into
unspeakable poverty. Most parts of the US have no public transit; the poor
here have to own cars to even get to work. Most employers in Fort Wayne
won't even hire someone who cannot prove they own a car! Yes, it is legal
for them to require that, and the reason they do is that people who don't
have a car have difficulty getting to work consistently, on time, every
day. Half the USA's population earns so little that they are exempt from
paying income tax.

I have a lot of kids in my classes who don't get anything to eat at home;
the free lunch the school gives them is it. I can't imagine how bad these
kids' lives would become if your wet dream of US gas prices doubled came
true. Buying newer, efficient cars is not an option for these people. Too
much money.

The US has serious problems. Cheap gas isn't one of them, and in any case
its none of your business. The European Union has serious economic and
structural problems you should be worrying about.
