After reading up on ExFAT and how it works I would agree that it's a
good match for flash drives where there is usually a *relatively* small
number of files and access is typically sequential both between files
and within a file. It might also be suitable for a very large drive if
the drive is primarily used for backup... ie; access is still typically
sequential both between and within files. But for a very large and
general purpose drive it might be better to pay the "tax" for an NTFS
driver for the Mac. If the drive is accessed rather randomly the B-tree
structure of NTFS will have far superior performance to ExFAT.

A CAUTION though Don't try this before other much more experienced

be there.
