No. The Hasselblad was long, long preceded by the Rolleiflex and Victor did 
have chats with either Franke or Heideke (can't remember which). So 6x6 was 
twenty years very popular before he settled on it. Commercially it was 
convenient because you didn't have to provide for switching from landscape to 
portrait. And lots of people discovered that they didn't need to stick with 
some Golden Mean and could crop to compose if they wanted.
