I tend to rely on the router firewall exclusively, and for sure not
ZoneAlarm as it gave me too many false alarms.
If you try one of the vulnerability checkers like ShieldsUp my pc seems
'safe'.
I've found that one of the three banks I frequent won't let me in unless I
use IE as a browser. Of course IE is always the first target for malware,
but maybe also the first to get its vulnerabilities fixed. What happens if
you try to access that bank from a linux machine and browser I don't know.
