And screen scroll is bad why? Don't we all have mice with scroll wheels by now,
and/or touch screens and a finger?
Not trying to say what you should do, just doing what I do, questioning
assumptions.

Certainly nothing of value/use lost, and cleaner looking, but nothing gained as
yet, as the recovered space is unused.
