Have you accounted for the fact that "My Documents" under WinXP is actually
a redirection to C:\Documents and Settings\[username] ? It is NOT the same
file path with Win7, so it makes sense that Win7 may be having problems
with it.

That said, it has proven to be a PITA of major proportions in an enterprise
environment to handle Win7's "new, improved" method of handling "My
Documents" and other of the pre-existing WinXP file/folder conventions when
upgrading users. Get a good backup, get a good backup, get a good backup of
your old system drive. Then, instead of trying to re-direct Win7's "My
Documents" (if, indeed you are attempting that) use absolute file paths to
copy documents from the old to the new "My Documents".
