Although it's been pretty dry around here lately it still is July. We
just had a thunderstorm pass through which dumped 0.6" (15mm) of rain in
about 15 minutes. Also lots of thunder banging and one bolt hit which
I'd guess was no more than about 100 yards/meters away. Down the street
somewhere. I'll have to look later and see if I can tell where.
Just before the storm the clouds showed a very odd pattern of many, many
rows of parallel scallops. I was disappointed that in the short time it
took me to go into the house for the camera and return the pattern had
been almost obliterated.
