Chuck,

Many of the records broken in the last week date from June of 1952, at which
time my wife and I were living in a Dayton, OH, apartment without air
conditioning. Believe me, it felt just as hot then as it does now. So,
things have changed little in the 60 intervening years, except that now,
everyone is "conditioned" to air conditioning as the "norm", which was not
the case in '52.
