All agreed until your final sentence, Chuck. What DoF preview button do you
have in mind? Is there such a button on any m43 adapter?

Not quite correct. OM lenses are normally wide open independent of the
aperture ring. The lens is closed to the pre-set position at the time of
exposure by the stop-down arm of an OM camera body. When you have an OM
lens on an adapter something has to take the place of the OM body's
stop-down arm. If you inspect the lens side of your adapter carefully you
will see some sort of pin sticking out from the inside rim. The purpose of
that pin is to catch the stop-down arm on the lens and force the diaphragm
closed when you move the aperture ring.

Remove that pin and the lens will stay open all the time... just as it is
when it's not mounted on a body. Some people prefer to remove the pin and
force the lens closed at the time of exposure by pressing on the DOF preview
button.
