OK, Chuck, you raised my concern level to the point that I have ordered a 
"genuine" Olympus battery.  I tried to call the vendor from whom I purchased 
the third party batteries, and could find no one to talk to except the 
operator.  I will keep them for emergency use, but will add the Oly battery 
to my usual rotation.
