Granted I am still using working mercury batteries so it is the Olympus 35SP
for me with the lens and spot/ average metering . The flashmatic system
seems to be pretty good too.

Thanks for the links and list.  I've never owned a rangefinder beyond my 
first camera, a Petri 7s, and, for a few years an Olympus XA.  I never 
caught the XA excitement that seems to grip some.  I'm wondering if you 
have a favorite in this list and also what you consider to be the 
ultimate fixed lens rangefinder.  Is there one that offers auto exposure 
as well as full manual control, CdS metering and non-mercury batteries?
