Hi All,

Totally off topic friday question, but has anyone installed a firedoor.
I need to install one in the celler where the heating and oil tanks
are. Whilst my brother in law was here I got it into place and bolted
it, I did have the sense to use steel bolts rather than plastic rawplugs
;-) The swiss don't generall do DIY and the council sent only the door
regulations and say the carpenter would know how to fit it. The swiss
builders are nicknamed the swiss mafia for good reason as a lot of price
fixing etc goes on.

anyway my question is what do I use to fill between the metal frame and
the doorframe.

I can see four options

1 normal cement - is it fireprrof enough
2. fire cement - expensive cement used to build fireplaces
3. fireproof expanding foam - have found some in the UK
4. intumescent strips - expand as they get hot - can also get from UK

and in this one the yellow strip at the back of thge gap is an air gap

Thanks in advance
