I still object to the projection of personal experience and/or 
stereotype onto everyone else's wives and partners.

I know it is traditional humor. It's also misogynistic and almost never 
actually funny, IMO. As I have said in more detail before, it has also 
not been true of my parents, my own wives and SOs, nor of most of the 
other marriages I know fairly well.

If meant tongue in cheek, it didn't come across that way here. The 
deadpan didn't cross the electronic divide.
