Yes, it is expensive and rather typical for the US.... The regular price is
$10.99 for E6 processing (36exp), plus 7.75% tax. I get 20% discount.  You
can find cheaper processing if you shop around, but this is may be the only
place left in my area where I can drop the film and pick it up the same day
if I am in a hurry.  I have to give them my business to keep them open.

When I was in Greece in 2004 for the Olympics (100 rolls in 2 weeks), a
professional lab in Athens charged a lot less for processing (3 or 4 Euros).
On the other hand, buying film was a lot more expensive in Athens than the
US.  But when I visited again in 2007, the pro-lab was closed, gone for
ever.

Eventually, slide film processing will only be available my mail.  Buying
slide film at reasonable prices has become a mail order thing in the US.
