Yes, it's a shame for me -- that prevents the use of an OM body + Winder for
an automated meteor shower recorder :-(

As you see, B + winder would be nice sometimes... I know some cameras are
powered by the winder/motor drive source when fitted.

You won't get TTL, though, so the old OM-1 would be as nice. But for most
subjects, with a _good_ flash there's no much need for TTL...

Most likely a tolerances issue. As John told, chrome caps ara highly
recommended.
