If a digital camera is a means to capture visual experience and with that
experience being translated into a printed or projected image, and that
there is limit to the ability of the human eye to discern detail beyond a
certain degree of detail, is there a limit beyond which the expansion of
digital capture, in terms of so many maga pixels, will either stall or slow
down ?
Hasellblad's H3D11-50 might be a 50 MP jobbie but how many ordinary folk
will be wanting a a 200 inch by 200 inch print from their neighbourhood
Costco / Wal-Mart / Asda one hour print shop?
In the ordinary world of serious amateurs and pro photograhers, the likes of
which populate this OM list, is there likely to be an upper limit beyond
which the mega pixel capture of digital cameras will cease to have any
relevance?
