Hi list,

I was just browsing the wonderful Olympus wallpapers set available on the
olympus.co.jp site, when something strange caught my attention in this pic:

[
http://www.olympus.co.jp/jp/fun/wallpaper/camera/dl.cfm?id=117&type_id=4&la=en]

It shows the wideangle lenses that were available for our beloved OMs back
in the good ol' days, all of them well known BUT ONE.

Take a look at the lens in the middle of the bottom row: it is supposed to
be a 35mm f/2 as you can read on its front ring, but indeed it has not the
shape and size we are used to, as the front barrel is smaller and
differently shaped from the common one, and it seems to have a 49mm filter
size, too.

Its serial number reads (if my eyes can judge correctly) 10000x (maybe x=5?)
although it's not a silver nosed, so it seems to be one of the very first
coming out of its respective production run.

At first I thought it was a photoshopped image based on the 35mm f/2.8 shown
elsewhere, although I can't imagine that the guys at Olympus didn't have a
35mm f/2 in hand when shooting the pic, but a closer inspection at what can
be seen inside the lens shows it to be different from its f/2.8 counterpart
and indeed reminding of the *real* 35mm f/2.

Maybe another forgotten lens prototype in the same line as the 24-40mm f/4
that surfaced months ago.

Surely someone will soon put one of them for sale on evilbay... :)

Thought this should sound interesting for some of you folks in here!

Ciao,

Fabio
