Chuck,

After experimenting with my Takumar 200mm, which does not focus at close 
distances, I concluded that I needed a different approach. That is when I 
went to the close-focusing Takumar 55/1.8 and the 2x extender.  As you say, 
it focuses to .45meter, or less than 18 inches, and becomes, on the E-510, 
the equivalent of a 220mm f/2.5 lens.

Not bad, for minimum cost.
