Exactly, as for coatings think about this: take a look at the reflections
from your Zuiko MC 50mm f1.8 (s/n 26647xx), to my eye there are strong green
reflections and less strong magenta reflections.  The fact that you see the
reflections as different colours means that those colours aren't being
transmitted as strongly through the lens to the "sensor", so the colour
balance of that lens will be different to an early SC version with amber and
mauve reflections.  The difference will be measurable with the right
instruments but may or may not be significant to you as an image maker.
