Strangely 99.1% would bother me and I'd use that brilliant Toolhaus
negative checker.
http://toolhaus.org/cgi-bin/negs
It means that almost one person in a hundred is unhappy - how many
neutrals and withdrawns? And on 50K feedback, that's 500 angry
customers.
Even Cambridge Camera manages 98.4% as I remember and I wouldn't buy
a Snickers Bar from them.
I just BIN'ed a Leica M8 grip from photo-arsenal-worldwide who
specialise in some very rare and expensive collectibles (M6 Platinum
- $24K).
Their feedback is 98.5% and at the (inflated) cost of some of their
stuff (which is amazing nonetheless) I'd be rather nervous!
They've got around 31 annoyed customers, quite a few neutrals. And a
lot of mutually withdrawns too, which suggests that they do resolve a
lot of disputes. However, the comments are enlightening ('arrogant,
uncommunicative').
I bought something off a high volume, low cost per item dealer in
California - he had a 98%+ rating and a previous purchase was fine.
It turned out to be completely misdescribed, cleverly photographed to
conceal the evidence and so on. No response to emails at all. Turns
out from a check on Toolhaus that he NEVER replies to complaints -
just ignores them. He's got a good feedback rating but he's still an
a'hole who relies on his volume to bury his bad feedback comments.
