I think the 283's are like the Olympus 300, QA310 flashes, trigger 
voltage up around 100V.  I have seen a many OM-1/2 with pitted flash 
contacts (main and safety contacts). A few OM-1's  with contacts 
seriously burnt. Some pitting is expected over the years.  I would not 
use one of these old flashes on the 2S, 3Ti, 4, 4T as the trigger 
voltage goes through an IC. Definitely a no-go on all E digital bodies, 
why chance it? E flash contacts are rated at 5V
