I taint no doctor but I can tell you what saved my life the last time I had
an infected molar.

St. Johns Wort, in pills, 50 mcg I think is the usual quantity, the best
damned nerve pain killer I have ever come across. No side effects, though it
doesn't erase all pain, the relief was enough I could drive again. Kept me
in the realm of being able to operate without sudden surges of pain that
would have effected my driving.

Usnea Lichen (the green round stuff with the WHITE center) wonderful
antibacterial anti fungal, I picked mine off the trees, took care of at
least the worst 25-30% of the infection while I waited my mandatory 2 weeks
for an appointment (then that Dentist told me I wasn't his patient and he
didn't want to work on me)

That night I had my head on the propane heater which was the only thing that
helped, later I was told that the infection was worsened by moisture and hot
dry heat is what was helping.

At that point I tried acupuncture (I was terrified of needles, of any sort).
He also gave me some herbs to make at home, enough for 6 days, then I saw
him on the 7th and he gave me another treatment and a different batch of
herbs. I was actually feeling good enough to contemplate avoiding the
dentist.

Day 28 and the second Dentist, the anesthesia worked, he pulled the tooth,
someone else woke me up and I was headed out the door when the dentist
screamed, apparently I had only gone under 15 minutes earlier. I tossed the
effects off that fast, but I sat down and read a magazine for another 20
minutes to a)make him happy and b) try taking good directions form a medical
professional of which I had a track record of finding the worst or the best
every time.

So, this time I have the Usnea and the St. Johns Wort and use them as
needed. The tooth still needs to go but I'll have time to amass what is a
wealth of money for me to have them do a 10 minute procedure, guess the rest
of the cash is the mal practice insurance agents cut.

Wow. last molar I had extracted was life threatening all right - I
was in the waiting room banging my head on the wall and moaning.
Worst pain I've I've experienced.
Oh, no dental insurance so AU$200 - on a Saturday afternoon.
You guys are getting seriously screwed.
