The sensor is behind the shutter. You have to fire the shutter on B to 
see it.  If dust settles on the low pass filter (which covers the sensor 
and blocks infrared) you will see the dust spot on every picture. 
Scratch the low pass filter and you'll see the scratch in every pic.
