I'm going to have to beg for a few more days to meet my "end of January"
commitment for new photos in a new gallery. There were a couple of weeks
this month when nothing other than family things got done, as you know, so
I've got a lot of catching up to do, plus a business trip this week.
My new target is January 43rd, and things look promising. I struggled with
XOOPS + XOOPSgallery for a while, then went back to just Gallery, and I
think it's doing fairly much what I want; I'll work on tweaking it (custom
theme or whatever) later. I brought images into both Aperture and Lightroom
until my Aperture demo expired (and am still wondering whether I really need
either), and I upgraded my PS Elements from 1.0 (!) to 4.0 to work on the
new Mac Pro/23" toys rather than on the TiBook in Classic mode. So much for
tools. The images from the OM-1 will be 6mp scans from the Noritsu processor
rather than scans by me, but I think they still qualify. The weight of the
E-1 is taking a bit of a toll on my arthritic right wrist, but I'm starting
to get the feel of the thing too.
OT stuff. The executor sideline is easier for me than for some other folks
here, as i) we had to sell the parents' house after Dad died and Mum moved
to long-term care [still took 13 months, as the original sale fell through]
and 2) to sell the house we had to clear out several lifetimes worth of
hoarding and distribute amongst the families the items we wanted to keep, so
the estate is just down to cash and securities. Still, there's an emotional
component to the finality of this, independent of the actual assets.
