Mike, Two suggestions that have worked well for me as super light climbing/cycling cameras: Olympus XA or an Olympus Stylus Epic. The XA is technically not a P&S, but rather a nice little compact rangefinder. The Stylus Epic is a great little P&S. Both are fixed focal length film cameras, and really perform great.
