It can take me two hours on a 42" cut riding machine if I 'catch and
release' rather than just cut and fly.
It's always struck me a bit odd the dichotomy of fertilizing, preening,
weeding etc. in order to be able to cut it more frequently?
I like Walt's stated forest/back to nature model. Is it old growth
Walt?

Harrumph! If I put my cut on really high (55-60cm) it will take me
only 75 minutes and around 5 journeys to the compost heap to dump the
cuttings. If I use 50 and I spot convolvulus along the way it can
easily take 2 hours to do the grass, including rinsing out the mower ...
