Here is part of some old correspondence (to Mark offline) about related issues
of using the low
voltage from the Quantum turbos, for powering stuff, digi cams etc.

>>>>>
The turbo units (all?) put out low voltages for use with cameras as well as
hi-v for flashes. The
2x2 and QTB put out 6 and 9V and the regular Turbo puts out 9V. Likely more
voltages with the
custom (expensive)adapters, that probably include a regulator. You may need to
adapt a regular
hi-V cable or buy Quantum's Y connector to get at the 9V and hi-V for the
regular turbo.

The cables "SD" and "CD" series Camera Cables power digital cameras with Turbo
Models QTB and
T2x2.
"YDC" series Camera Cables power digital cameras with Turbo Compact.

>>and also from website:
The Turbo 2x2 ....With dual outputs this battery pack is ideal to be used to
power a pro-digital
camera outfit. The Quantum Turbo 2x2 provides programmable low voltage for your
digital camera and
high voltage for your flash at the same time. Now your flash keeps up with your
camera, and camera
with flash. Or use it to power two separate flashes!
<<

There is also a Y adapter to use for powering flash and camera.
That splits one outlet into two. (cable QT48)

B&H claims the regular Turbo works with Nikon :

turbo battery
packs.

With an added regulator you could adapt that voltage to other cameras.
Some of the 2x2 cables have adapters in them that are likely regulators.
