I've heard that often, so I decided not to try it and save some grief :)
I have read that Rollei 100 is very similar but this is likely net rumour.

Tri-X is next on the list to try. I wonder if it will be much longer lived than
APX 100 ...

Yes, it seems that there are difficulties. I'll try a bit more, but
