It's interesting that you see the person as homeless. If he/she had a 
shopping cart filled with stuff, then I would think homeless. Walking at 
night carrying a heavy bag is not what I normally see of the homeless. I 
would guess someone coming home after work probably walking from either a 
bus stop or train station. (I wish I had been able to get a picture of a 
probably homeless guy with four shopping carts tied together like a train 
that I saw).

I think with a little cropping the picture would be excellent!!!

The 2nd shot is better in my view (the mood is more showing, almost to the
point you can tell a story with the pic : this guy's homeless, walking away
all the night to avoid police collection... whatever : great social pic).

But nevertheless, it lacks in the technical field : the pole in the front is
very disturbing, and would have disappearded by a 2 meters move of the
shooter forward. Zooms give bad habits, obviously.

Don't take that criticism too personaly, I've certainly done worse on my 
own.
