You're basically trying to get the same light intensity to hit the far wall
as anything near, but the intensity falls off with the square of the
distance it travels. By bouncing most of the light off the ceiling so that
it hits the far wall you might get good enough.

To really do it "easy" you need multiple light sources positioned to evenly
light up the whole room or at least everything in the room that you want in
the picture. If there are any flourescent lights, the light intensity from
your strobes has to be significantly stronger than the flourescent light. If
you want to take advantage of the incandescent lights in the room you can
put a color filter on your strobes so they will have about 3200K
temperature.

I've played with the zoom head on the FL-50 trying to get the right mix of
near vs. far but after fighting that I decided a couple optical slaves
attached to T32s was easier and gave better results.

What is a favorite accessory flash solution to uneven lightening in large
room? Have been using tissue paper over Viv 283 as a inelegant but
effective diffuser. (Its flash pattern isn't all that symmetric either
like 285) If room is too large some of the more distant areas are a bit too
dark. There is a 24mm lens for this, though some list members apparently
like the Metz 34 CS-2 as a slave. There is a cute 28-CS-2 which is a nice
size for travel and can be set at virtually any f-stop for non-ttl auto.
Could you use this and a T20 in hot shoe? Would one set this at -1
compensation to avoid over exposure/red eye? There is also a slave trigger
(if it is still available)for the Viv 283as well. Thanks for any input.
Mike
