For outdoor work I have almost exclusively used the WB presets.
I figured that if it is good enough for Velvia and Provia, it's
good enough for my E-1. My colors look much better this way and
far more predictable.  I think we take this WB thing over the
top.  I hate what the Auto-WB does in twilight.  Gag me with a
pitchfork.

I also do not trust the camera monitor for judging WB. You
really don't know until you see the image on your computer, and
half the time you've corrected something to the point of real
uglyness.  With rare exception the WB settings (and on-demand WB
set buttons) tend to keep things on the coolish side. With the
E-1, we do have offsets (most of mine are -1) which help matters
greatly.

As I shoot mostly RAW outdoors, I set the WB to daylight or
cloudy (both are -1 offset) and only do a custom WB during
conversion.  Interior shots, though, are another story.  I'll
hit the WB-set button for that.  If I'm shooting in-camera
JPEGs, I'll use AWB, but it too is offset -1.
