Yeah it's a bit confusing. There's a big mix of Buddhist and Annimist
(spirit worship) beliefs in parts of Asia. Makes for a really
interesting mix of beliefs.
Sometimes it can be really positive. For instance, in parts of Laos
there are "haunted forests" and these areas don't get cut down. A
friend of mine visited one forest which is haunted by 100 year old
electric snakes.
