Ok. How's this. How about starting a new thread on something
related to the OM-1? Guess what--I don't own an OM-1. How about
the OM-10, OM-2, OM-3 or 350/2.8? I don't own any of those
either.

I know I've been the leading instigator of all discussions E-1
these days. But is it to be expected? It wasn't too long ago
that I was trashing the whole concept of digital. Here I am
sucked right into it.

One thing that I've always tried to do is apply technology in a
relevent way. Case in point would be the discussion of the new
photo on my homepage. A question was asked about the
post-processing and I responded in a manner that is applicable
to most forms of photography. There were a few steps which were
technology specific, but the concepts were universal. You could
apply the post-processing steps in the digital or analog
darkroom or to a DC file or a scanned slide.

I *almost* bailed out of Olympus. If it wasn't for the efforts
of Bill Barber I absolutely would have. My OM kit would have
been sold off except for one body and two lenses which would
have entered the museum shelf next to an Argus C3 and an old
Yashica GSN.

My photographic needs and shooting style isn't the same as, say,
Walt's. But isn't that a good thing? Isn't it good to have a
few people on the list that shoot professionally? Part-time or
full-time? Otherwise, it's just hobbiest and collectors.
Variety is important in the long-term health of the list.

It's normal for the list to take on new technologies. This is an
unique forum, one of the most interesting communities I've found
on the Internet. I don't frequent it for the technology very
much, I do so for the friendships established over the many
years I've been a part of it.

Most lists are all about the technology. This one just uses the
OM "hook" to give it a name. This list transcends the OM camera
line.
