It doesn't save from the preview, but rescans at the full resolution. It
is very odd that it can scan at the lower preview resolution and not the
higher resolution. That would seem to indicate that the SCSI adapter,
cable, termination, etc. are all ok. Nonetheless, I would pull/rock the
adapter in its socket, un/re plug the cable ends and make sure the
switch on the back of the scanner is set correctly, perhaps rotating it
around once as well.

I have run it without problems on an older, slower PC running W98 and on
a newer faster one than yours using XP. Do you turn the scanner on
before the computer? It has to initialize before being contacted by the
SCSI driver. On both of my machines, it is turned on at the same time as
the computer and has initialized before being queried by the driver, but
that may just be luck. When turned on, it makes various noises and the
light on the front flashes, turning steady when it is initialized.

Terminator is built into the FS2710. SCSI address and whether it is
terminated or not is set by a roatry switch on the back.
