There is also an old Vivitar S1 24-70 f3.8-4.5 that is considered to be
fairly good. If I recall correctly it is relatively small for a Vivitar S1
lens. I believe they normally sell for $100 or perhaps a little less.

There is also a Tamron SP 28-80 f3.5-4.2 which sells for about $75 and the
Tamron SP 35-80 f2.8-3.8 which seems to be mentioned more often. If you keep
your eyes open there have been a couple very good deals on the highly
regarded Tamron SP 35-105 f2.8 lens.

The Tokina AT-X 28-85 f3.5-4.5 is probably closest to what you've asked
about.
