The average Hoya filters I've seen are thicker than an Olympus filter. The
thin 72mm Hoya filter I have is thinner than an Olympus 72mm filter. The
thin Hoya doesn't have outwards facing threads, so you can't screw a lens
hood into it.
Hoya has made many different versions of filters. I haven't bought any of
their recent 49mm filters.
